The SOUPED UP will have you achieving all your climbing routes with precision. This shoe has been designed with a combination of RS and RH rubber on the outsole and split into two pieces. By splitting the outsole this allows for maximum stiffness/rigidity and power to the toe, while at the same time, maintaining sensitivity with the rest of the foot. With a VD rubber toe patch, this allows for extra friction and performance for toe hooks. Having a one-strap Velcro closure system provides a secure and precise fit.

Excellent shoe, particularly in super steep outdoor terrain. I’ve been looking for a replacement for the function my old black Teams served, and this model might be the closest I have tried. The Leopards, Vims, and Vegas did a decent job as a replacement, but the Souped Up really nails it with the full toe rubber coverage (my biggest gripe of the Vim). The best way I could describe the Souped Up is a cross between the old black Team and UP’s Flagship shoe. So basically imagine a wider/boxier black Team with a split sole and the Flagship heel. The full toe rubber coverage is especially useful for toe cams, foot jams, and trickery needed to move through horizontal limestone & sandstone roof climbs. I can twist and lock a cam with this shoe in a way that my Vims failed to do because of the toe coverage. The Souped Up is almost a secret weapon on certain roof climbs that require a crucial foot cam. The split sole is awesome and really does allow for a great balance of midsole sensitivity and ability to drive power into the toe when needed. The stiffness of the shoe feels somewhere between the Vim and Leopard II when fresh out of the box, and molds nicely to your feet in short time if you size them right. I went a full size down compared to other UP shoes I have purchased, though this might be because the shoe in my normal size felt a little wide to me. Once I went a size down the fit is perfect. The heel is very similar to the Flagship and may feel a little high volume for some feet (compared to the Vega heel for instance). The shoe does very well on modern indoor climbing as the description says (standing on slick volumes, toe/heel hooking large fiberglass holds). Way to go Sang and UP Team, this is a great shoe that I highly recommend for anyone looking to add a versatile soft shoe to their quiver. I hope a LV version of this shoe comes out at some point too.

I agree with the other user that these are the closest thing to the old Team Blacks out there (that I’ve tried). Love them for that. I will say they don’t have the usual Unparallel high quality build unfortunately. Probably a product of the softness? The V split on the top of the toe box is my main concern here. If you do a lot of toehooks with these the top of your big toe will start poking through the gap in that V. I’m still using them over a year after buying them and they still do fine on everything but toehooks so its not a big deal.
